"We couldn't imagine getting married and not having our dog with us."
If you're a dog parent, you know. You want your dog at your wedding (you think), but you're not sure where to start, how to plan it, or who to put in charge of them. That's where Wags Down the Aisle comes in to provide wedding day pet care and coordination leading up to the big day, including suggesting ways to incorporate your dog in your wedding or elopement.
There's something undeniably special about watching a couple spend time with their sweet pups. We've seen it many times as a wedding day pet care attendant in Washington State and we want to celebrate it in this blog series, Furever Yours. We're highlighting some of our very own couples and their canine companions, showcasing how the dogs added joy, love, a little bit of whimsy to their wedding celebrations.
Today, meet Hope and Seth, and their sweet fur baby Remi. They got married in 2023 at Green Gates at Flowing Lake and Remi spent the entire day at the venue, which allowed us to incorporate her in so many different ways.
As with most of our couples, Hope and Seth agree that Remi is more than just a pet--she's an integral part of their lives and relationship. When it came time to plan their wedding, including Remi was a given. "Our dog is our whole world and has been a huge part of our relationship and growth as a couple," they shared. "We couldn't imagine getting marrried without her there."
Thanks to Remi's training courses and the work they had done with a personal trainer, Hope and Seth felt confident that Remi was prepared for the big day. They were right; she was well behaved and such a sweet presence throughout the entire day.
Of course, every wedding has its moments. Hope and Seth recall a lighthearted challenge when Remi, who isn't fond of FedEx trucks, reacted to the catering company's van, which resembled one. Luckily, we were able to manage the situation smoothly and redirect Remi's energy towards something more exciting - food!
Some of Hope and Seth's most treasured moments from the wedding include Remi, They fondly remember dancing with her on the dance floor at the end of the night - a moment that will stay with them forever. Another highlight was Hope seeing Remi standing with Seth at the end of the aisle, patiently waiting for her arrival at the altar.
From the pet care attendant perspective, there were so many little ways we chose to have Remi involved that made it consistently exciting and fun - there was a little Remi figurine as the cake topper; she joined Hope and Seth for a first dance; and she even signed the guest book! It was really clear that these two care so deeply for Remi and couldn't have had a 'full' wedding without incorporating her.
Remi wasn't just a joy for the couple, but for the guests as well. Many friends had not yet met Remi, and her presence added an extra layer of excitement and happiness to the day.
When asked for advice for other couples considering including their dog in their wedding, Hope and Seth are unequivocal (and so, so kind): "Hire Wags Down the Aisle. We didn't have to worry about Remi once, thanks to them. It was comforting knowing Remi was well taken care of. We couldn't be more thankful."
Hope, Seth, and Remi's experience highlights the special role pets can play in a wedding, creating memories that you truly will remember forever.
